PLCMC wins national public relations award
The Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County was one of only six libraries across the country to receive the prestigious John Cotton Dana Library Public Relations Award for outstanding library public relations. This national honor was presented by the Library Administration and Management Association, a division of the American Library Association (ALA).
The library’s winning entry was "Bringing the Story to Life," a campaign to celebrate the opening of ImaginOn, which the awards committee described as "a magnificent public relations effort that resulted in attendance and media coverage at their grand opening events exceeding all expectations."
Of the entries received this year, committee chair Tim Wadham said, "The applications received ... provided a wonderful picture of the amazing, innovative and creative public relations campaigns being carried out in libraries across the country."
The awards will be presented at the 2006 ALA Annual Conference, June 22-28, in New Orleans.
