Senior Expo to address and recognize concerns of older Americans
The Public Library of Charlotte & Mecklenburg County (PLCMC) will present a Senior Expo on May 2 at Independence Regional Library from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Organizers hope that the county’s older citizens will come out in full force. “This is a great opportunity to recognize Older American’s month while at the same time offering much needed services and resources for the senior community,” said April Wallace, event coordinator. Wallace has also been pleased by the community support. Expo participants of this event can expect to get freebies from vendors such as Food Lion and Rita’s Ice Custard Happiness and others. Resources to be on hand will include:
• Presbyterian Hospital for blood pressure and blood sugar checks,
• AARP
• Garrity & Gossage Law Firm (Elder Law specialty)
• The Friends of the Public Library
• Seniors helping Seniors
• Partners in Care
• Golden State Mutual Life Insurance
• All for Seniors

Since its founding in 1903 as a Carnegie Free Library, PLCMC has provided community service and outreach to the citizens of the Charlotte area.
