Whether you are requesting a book, videotape, article or other lending item, check the Online Catalog to make sure PLCMC does not own it first. Request for items already owned by our Library system can not be filled through Interlibrary Loan.

To Request Books & Other Lending Items:

1. Gather the book’s information from one of the following resources:
   • WorldCat: An online database of all items held by OCLC participating libraries.
     This is the best site to search for anything of interest to you. This catalog includes books in English and foreign languages, and audio/video material.
   • Online Public Access Catalogs
     Links to online catalogs of local, national and world wide libraries.
     • UNC-Charlotte Atkins Library
     • Davidson College
     • UNC-Chapel Hill
     • Duke
     • NCSU (North Carolina State University)
     • Libweb - Library WWW Servers: Most complete list of library Web sites (more than 3,000 from over 90 countries), maintained by Tom Dowling on the Digital Library SunSITE. Organized by type of library for United States listings, by continent and alphabetically for others. Searchable.

2. Print out the ILL Book Request Form and fill in all required information fields.

3. Return the completed form to your local branch library or contact Main Library ILL department at (704) 416-0101 to submit over the phone.
   Note: No more than 3 requests may be made in a calendar week (Sun. – Sat.). The first will be free and a $2.00 processing fee will be required for the 2nd and 3rd requests. You must have a valid library card and no outstanding fines or items in order to make a request.

To Request Articles & Photocopies:

1. Check the PLCMC Periodicals Finding Tool to make sure the Library does not already have access to the publication you are seeking.
2. Print out the ILL Article Request Form and fill in all required information fields.
