The Circulation DeskNorth County Regional Library serves northern Mecklenburg County, including the towns of Huntersville, Cornelius and Davidson. The tri-level 23,728 sq. ft. building was constructed in 1997 with funds from bonds approved by voters in 1995. North County offers a large selection of books, media and reference materials – both print and electronic – as well as many other features. There is something for everyone at the library. Come and explore!

The Popular Library on the entry level is where visitors will find new and high demand materials: rental bestsellers, new fiction and non-fiction, DVDs, music CDs, Audiotape books and Books on CD, and a popular ongoing book sale. Large print books and a small rotating foreign language collection can also be found in the Popular Library.

Staff AssistanceThe Information Services department, located on the lower level, offers visitors professional reference service 71 hours a week, in person or by telephone. This department houses a large collection of adult and young adult fiction, non-fiction, biographies, magazines and newspapers, videos and music CDs. In addition, North County has a Spanish Language collection including books and media, and a Career Connections area providing information on colleges, career planning, and resume writing.

PC ResourcesNorth County Regional Library has 29 computers available for public use on the lower level, many of which provide access to the Internet. Software including Word, Excel and PowerPoint is also available. The Information Services staff will be happy to show you how to use our subscription databases which give you access to homework help, periodicals, literary criticism, and much more.

Our professional Information Services staff is ready to help with any of your information needs and provides regular programming for adults, including computer workshops and book programs such as:

  • Dialogue - a book club meeting on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.
  • Write Club - a writer’s group which meets on the 1st Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.

Young Adults are especially welcome at North County and are encouraged to check out our YA fiction, graphic novels and comic books. Yas can also join Book ‘Em, our book club for Young Adults, which meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 4:30-5:30 p.m. Please check our schedule for other YA and adult programs.

Story TimeThe Children’s Services department is on the upper level and features well-lighted study and reading areas with large window bays. Visitors will discover a friendly, professional Children’s staff ready to assist with homework questions, age-appropriate book suggestions, and computer sign-ups. The Children’s staff also provides a full range of programs for children, families, and daycare providers.

Fifteen computers are available for early learning games and homework help along with books for children through fifth grade, a Parent/Teacher collection, Audiotape books, board books, paperbacks, magazines, music CDs, children’s videos, computer software, and children’s foreign language collections in Vietnamese and Spanish.

The Amigos de la Biblioteca tutoring club provides tutoring for elementary school children of ESL families during the school year from October through the end of April. For more information about this program please call Irania Patterson at (704) 416-0557.

Registration is required to attend all children’s programs. 2-Step, Side-by-Side, and Just for Me program registration begins on the 25th of the previous month. Books and Baby program registration begins on the 30th of the previous month.

Baby programs consist of lively stories using bright pictures, songs, finger-plays, rhymes, and the flannel board. Time limit is 15-20 minutes.

  • Bouncers (until walking) Mondays at 9:30 a.m.
  • Waddlers (walking up through 17 months) Mondays at 10:15 a.m.
  • Cruisers (18-23 months) Mondays at 11 a.m.

2-Step Story time (24-35 Months)
Tuesday and Wednesdays at 9:30 a.m.
An interactive program for two year olds and their parents or caregivers.

Side-by-Side (2 & 3 years)
Tuesday & Wednesday 11 a.m.
An interactive program for two and three year olds and their parents or caregivers.

Just For Me Pre-school Storytime (ages 3-5)
Tuesday & Wednesday 10:15 a.m.
An independent storytime for children to sit and listen to stories without parents or younger siblings.

Conexiones que cuentan/Connections that Count (birth to age 5)
Thursdays at 4:45 p.m.
A program for parents and children ages birth to 5 years old to address school readiness with stories, songs, and activities in Spanish.
